The Sea of Parakrama, a vast 12th-century man-made water reservoir is also one of the main highlights of this wonderful ancient city. This historical, archaeological, and architectural landmark has undergone substantial repair work by the Sri Lankan Archaeological Department, which has allowed it to retain its polished aspect even after more than 423 years. The fort has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its historical significance.

Take a Madu Ganga River Safari (Optional): Later, the Madu Ganga Boat Ride, which is in Balapitiya, would be your final stop for the day.
